I just registered for New York Cares, a not-for-profit organization that coordinates the needs and efforts of many smaller not-for-profit organizations in New York City. If you're looking for a way to volunteer in this great city, I'd highly recommend checking this out. There's no commitment necessary, there are projects everywhere at every time of day, and the website registration process runs like butter. Tomorrow I'm reading bedtime stories to young kids in Harlem, and my next project is helping adults learn basic computer skills. Each project is only a couple of hours, but added together, these many little projects make a big difference! Let me know if you have any questions!
